SushiSwap is a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange built on the Ethereum blockchain. It allows users to trade Ethereum-based tokens in a trustless and decentralized manner.

SushiSwap was created in August 2020 by an anonymous developer known as 'Chef Nomi', with the stated goal of becoming 'the new standard for decentralized exchanges'. It is modeled after the popular decentralized exchange Uniswap, but with a few key differences.

One key difference is that SushiSwap uses a 'pooling' system instead of the traditional 'order book' system. This means that users can trade directly with each other, without having to go through an intermediary.

Another difference is that SushiSwap uses a 'liquidity mining' system to incentivize users to provide liquidity to the exchange. This means that users who provide liquidity to the exchange can earn rewards in the form of the Sushi token.

SushiSwap has quickly become one of the most popular decentralized exchanges, with a 24-hour trading volume of over $1 billion. It is currently the fifth largest decentralized exchange by volume.
